Acical-C® is a preparation of Calcium and Vitamin C. Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the human body which is needed for muscle contraction, blood vessel contraction and expansion, the secretion of hormones and enzymes and sending message through the nervous system. Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is a water soluble vitamin, which is very essential as human body cannot synthesize it. Vitamin C is a significant factor in the defense mechanism of the organism against infections (cold and influenza). It stimulates the immune system to produce immune substances (immunoglobulins, interferons). Vitamin C is associated with the formation of connective tissue (collagen) and intercellular material, and is therefore indispensable in the healing of wounds and bone fractures. It binds harmful substances within the body (free radicals) and thus protects cells from ageing.
Acical-C® is indicated in
Dissolve the Acical-C® effervescent tablet in a glass of water.

Oral Calcium supplements are recommended worldwide during pregnancy and lactation. Besides, Vitamin C is also considered safe for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.
In mild hypercalciuria (exceeding 300 mg = 7.5 mmol/24 hours) as well as in chronic renal failure, or where there is evidence of stone formation in the urinary tract, adequate checks must be kept on urinary calcium excretion. If necessary, the dosage should be reduced or therapy discontinued. High doses of Vitamin D and derivatives should also be avoided with this preparation unless specially indicated. Since, Vitamin C enhances aluminium absorption, it should be taken with caution in patients with severe renal impairment, especially those receiving aluminium containing preparations. Besides, in case of diabetic patients, the sugar content should be considered.
Calcium reduces absorption of fluoroquinolones, levothyroxine, tetracycline, tiludronate, and phenytoin. It may decrease levels of the drug digoxin. Thiazide, and diuretics similar to thiazide, can interact with Calcium to increase the chances of developing hypercalcemia and hypercalciuria. Aluminum and magnesium antacids can both increase urinary calcium excretion. Prednisone can cause Calcium depletion and eventually osteoporosis, when used for more than a few weeks. Vitamin C enhances iron absorption and it may interfere with urinary glucose determination.
