Description
Oral-ZB ® is a combined preparation of Zinc and Vitamin B complex (e.g., Thiamine, Riboflavin, Pyridoxine and Nicotinamide). Zinc is necessary to maintain a healthy immune system in children. It ensures normal physical growth & development of reproductive organ in children. It is also necessary for the growth and maintenance of muscles. Vitamin B complex is needed to release energy from food. They play an important role in ensuring healthy brain & nerve functions and red blood cell formation in children & adults. They are specially needed for normal growth and development of children.

Indications
Oral-ZB ® is indicated for the treatment and prevention of Zinc & Vitamin B complex deficiencies.

Dosage and administration
Children under 10kg: 1 teaspoonful (5 ml) 1 to 2 times daily or as directed by the physician.
Children (10-30kg): 2 teaspoonfuls (10 ml) 1 to 3 times daily or as directed by the physician.
Adults & Children over 30kg: 2 teaspoonfuls (10 ml) 2 to 3 times daily or as directed by the physician.

Use in pregnancy & lactation
Oral-ZB ® is recommended in pregnancy and lactation.

Precautions
Zinc can be used with caution in patient with acute renal failure; as because Zinc accumulation may occur.

Side effects
Oral-ZB ® is generally well tolerated. However, few side effects may occur, like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach upset.

Contraindications
The combination of Zinc and Vitamin B complex are contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients or any other component of this formulation.

Drug interactions
Generally no interactions have been reported. Concomitant intake of Tetracycline or Quinolone and Zinc decrease the absorption of Tetracycline or Quinolone and Zinc. Penicillamine decreases Zinc absorption if it is concomitantly used. As little as 5mg Pyridoxine daily can decrease the efficiency of Levodopa in the treatment of parkinsonim.

Overdose
In case of over dosage, initially vomiting, epigastric pain and diarrhea may occur. One should seek emergency medical attention in case of overdose. Initially an emetic agent should be given and then gastric lavage and general supportive measures should be employed.

Presentation
Oral-ZB ® Syrup: Light yellow colored, sweet syrup with orange flavor. Each 5ml contains Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate USP 27.45 mg equivalent to 10 mg elemental Zinc, Thiamine Hydrochloride (B1) BP 5 mg, Riboflavin-5-Phosphate Sodium BP 2.74 mg equivalent to Riboflavin (B2) 2 mg, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (B6) BP 2 mg, Nicotinamide BP (B3) 20 mg.
