Sintel^®

Sintel ® is a preparation of Albendazole which is a broad spectrum anthelmintic. Sintel ® exhibits vermicidal, ovacidal and larvacidal activity and exerts its anthelmintic effect by inhibiting tubulin polymerization.
Indications
Sintel ® is a broad spectrum anthelmintic for the treatment of:
Ancylostoma duodenale - Hookworm
Necator americanus - Hookworm
Ascaris lumbricoides - Roundworm
Enterobius vermicularis - Pinworm
Strongyloides stercolaris - Threadworm
Trichuris trichuria - Whipworm
Taenia spp. - Tapeworm
Echinococcus granulosus
Hymenolepsis nana

Usual dose in both adults and children over 2 years of age: In case of A. duodenale, N. americanus, A. Iumbricoides, E. vermicularis and T. trichuria, a single dose of 400mg (1 Sintel ® tablet or 10ml Sintel¨ suspension) is effective. In case of Strongyloidiasis or Taeniasis Albendazole 400mg (1 Sintel ® tablet or 10ml Sintel ® suspension) as a single dose should be given three consecutive days. If the patient is not cured on follow up after three weeks, a second course of treatment is indicated.
Usual dose in children between one and two years of age: Recommended dose is a 200mg (1/2 Sinte ® l tablet or 5ml Sintel ® suspension).

Albendazole should not be administered during pregnancy or in women thought to be pregnant.

A few cases of gastro-intestinal discomfort and headache have been reported, but no definite relationship with drug has been shown.
