Description

Xcel ® (Paracetamol) is a fast acting and safe analgesic with marked antipyretic property. Xcel ® produces analgesia by elevating the pain threshold level and antipyresis through action on the hypothalamic heat-regulating center. It is specially suitable for patients who, for any reason, can not tolerate Aspirin or other analgesics.

Indications

All conditions requiring relief from pain and fever such as neuritis, neuralgia, headache, earache, toothache, pain due to rheumatic disorder, cold, influenza, dysmenorrhoea, post-vaccination pain and fever of children etc.


Dosage and administration

Xcel ® Tablet: Adults:1-2 tablets 3-4 times daily. Syrup: Adults: 4-8 measuring spoonful 3-4 times daily; Children: 6-12 years: 2-4 measuring spoonful 3-4 times daily, 1-5 years: 1-2 measuring spoonful 3-4 times daily, Up to 1 year: ½ to 1 measuring spoonful 3-4 times daily, Below 3 months:10 mg per kg 3-4 times daily. Suspension: Adults: 4-8 measuring spoonful 3-4 times daily; Children:6-12 years:2-4 measuring spoonful 3-4 times daily, 1-5 years:1-2 measuring spoonful 3-4 times daily, Up to 1 year: ½ to 1 measuring spoonful 3-4 times daily. Pediatric drops: Neonates and Children: 0-3 months: 0.5 ml, 4-11 months: 1 ml, 12-23 months: 1.5 ml, 2-3 years: 2 ml, 4-5 years: 3 ml four times daily or as directed by physicians. Dispersible Tablet: Children 3months- 1 year: ½-1 tablet every 4 hours. Maximum 4 tablets in 24 hours. Children 1-6 years: 1-2 tablets every 4 hours. Maximum 8 tablets in 24 hours. Children 6-12 years: 2-4 tablets every 4 hours. Maximum 16 tablets in 24 hours. Not to be given under 3 months or for more than 3 days without medical advice. Before taking, each dispersible tablet should be dissolved in a half-glass of water.

Precautions

Caution should be taken in patients with hepatic and renal impairment and in alcohol dependence.


Side effects

Side-effects are rare, but rashes, blood disorders and acute pancreatitis are reported after prolonged use.


Contraindications

Paracetamol is contraindicated for patients with known hypersensitivity to Paracetamol.

Xcel ® tablet: Box containing 50 blister strips of 10 tablets, each containing 500mg Paracetamol BP.
Xcel ® syrup: PET Bottle containing 60 ml syrup, each 5 ml containing 120 mg Paracetamol BP.
Xcel ® suspension: Bottle containing 60 ml suspension, each 5 ml containing 120 mg Paracetamol BP.
Xcel ® pediatric drops: Bottle containing 15 ml drops, each ml containing 80 mg Paracetamol BP.
Xcel ® dispersible tablet: Box containing 10x10 tablets in blister pack.
